Property Damage Solicitor

Canford Law are seeking an experienced Property Damage Solicitor to join our expanding Litigation team in Manchester. This is a full-time, hybrid role offering the opportunity to manage your own caseload while contributing to the continued growth and success of our Property Damage department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a varied caseload of property damage and insurance-related matters from instruction through to resolution, delivering high-quality legal services and ensuring the best outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a full caseload of property damage claims, handling matters from initial instruction through to settlement or trial.
  • Advise clients on property insurance coverage matters, providing clear and practical legal advice.
  • Handle property damage recovery claims on behalf of insurers and other clients.
  • Support on insurance defence work where appropriate.
  • Draft and review key legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, correspondence and settlement agreements.
  • Liaise with clients, insurers, experts, counsel and third parties to progress claims efficiently.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients’ interests to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records on the case management system.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver outstanding client service.
  • Contribute to business development, including maintaining client relationships and generating new work where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal procedures and quality standards.
  • Work towards and achieve individual and team performance targets.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with approximately 5–10 years’ PQE (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong experience in property insurance coverage matters.
  • Experience handling property damage recovery claims.
  • Exposure to market coverage work.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Strong client care skills with a professional and commercial approach.
  • Proactive, organised and able to manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication, technical and research skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using legal case management systems.
  • Right to work in the UK.
