ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently looking for a Scientific Operations Projects Manager to join a pioneering not-for-profit research organisation based near Kings Cross. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a scientifically minded individual who is passionate about improving laboratory systems, workflows, and infrastructure to make scientific progress more reliable and efficient. The role offers the chance to shape ongoing operational projects that directly impact cutting-edge research into small-molecule interactions with inherently disordered proteins. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Director of Operations to lead and deliver a varied portfolio of projects, from automation to chemical storage solutions. This role is hands-on and dynamic, providing the opportunity to turn complex, often incomplete processes into streamlined systems that support scientific discovery and organisational growth.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties as the Scientific Operations Projects Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Lead and manage diverse scientific operational projects, from initial assessment through to implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Collaborate with scientific and operational teams to identify needs, develop practical solutions, and deliver effective improvements.
  • Develop, embed, and continually optimise workflows and systems, ensuring they remain reliable, fit for purpose, and aligned with organisational needs.
  • Build strong relationships with team members, providing guidance and support to facilitate adoption and sustained use of new systems.
  • As the Scientific Operations Projects Manager, you will proactively monitor project performance, troubleshoot issues, and adapt solutions to evolving scientific priorities.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • A Degree or higher level in a relevant scientific or operational field (e.g., Life Sciences, Chemistry, or Project Management).
  • Proven experience in laboratory or scientific environments, with a focus on systems, workflows, automation, or lab infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable ability to translate scientific needs into practical operational solutions, with a strong attention to detail and follow-through.
