Job Description:

We’re looking for someone with good people skills and an enthusiasm for creating memorable visitor experiences to join our team as a Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Wimpole Estate.

You’ll be working 22.5 hours per week over 3 days. The weekly pattern can be discussed at interview stage.

Interview date: 25th August 2026

This is a fixed term contract due to end when the postholder returns to the role. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 month.

As part of the Visitor Experience team, you’ll play a key role in creating memorable and engaging visits for everyone who comes to Wimpole Estate. You’ll help bring the property to life through the delivery of seasonal programmes, events and activities, ensuring visitors connect with the stories, heritage and special qualities of the site.

Working closely with colleagues and volunteers, you’ll support the development and delivery of interpretation and signage that enhances the visitor journey, helping people discover and enjoy everything the property has to offer. You’ll be enthusiastic about providing a consistently high-quality visitor experience, ensuring excellent presentation standards and welcoming service across the site.

You’ll contribute to the successful delivery of busy school holidays, seasonal events and year-round programming, helping to ensure operations run smoothly and visitors have an enjoyable and memorable day out. As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you’ll be willing to pitch in wherever needed, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.

Duty management will form an important part of the role, with occasional weekend working.You’ll be responsible on the day for the smooth running of the property during opening hours, acting as the main contact point for staff, volunteers, and customers in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint.

  • skilled at communicating, and building good working relationships with people in your team and beyond
  • aware of ways to interpret precious collections of art and objects to a wide variety of people
  • well-organised, and able to work at pace and keep to timeconfident that you can deal with all kinds of people in all kinds of situations
  • flexible, yet with a focus on always giving high standards of customer service
  • used to working with and supervising volunteers
