Location: Scotland – (one day a week office attendance)
We’re partnering with an established organisation investing heavily in the modernisation of its core technology platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Java Developer to join a collaborative engineering team working on business-critical systems that directly support the company’s continued growth.
The Opportunity
You’ll play a key role in developing and enhancing the organisation’s next-generation billing platform. Following a major migration from Sage to Workday, the team is now focused on building and maintaining the integrations and APIs that keep critical business systems running efficiently.
This is a varied role, offering an excellent balance of greenfield project work alongside the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing applications. As the business continues its transition towards a modern Java-based technology stack, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing evolution of the platform and engineering practices.
What you’ll be working on
- Developing and enhancing a modern Java-based billing platform.
- Building and maintaining integrations between Workday and other business systems.
- Designing, developing and supporting APIs.
- Contributing to the migration from legacy scripting technologies to a consistent Java ecosystem.
- Collaborating with developers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.
- Supporting both project delivery and business-as-usual development activities.
- Strong commercial experience with Java
- Spring Boot
- Experience working within modern development environments and version control (e.g. IntelliJ and GitHub)
Beneficial
- Node.js
- React
- Angular
- Python (for supporting and maintaining existing services)
About You
You’ll be an experienced software engineer who enjoys working across both new development and the ongoing enhancement of existing applications. You’ll be comfortable working in a collaborative Agile environment and enjoy solving technical challenges while contributing to the modernisation of enterprise systems.
Location
This is a hybrid opportunity based in Scotland. The team would ideally like someone who can attend the office once per week (Perth), although they are open to considering candidates located elsewhere in Scotland for the right individual.
If you’re an experienced Java Developer looking to work on meaningful projects, modern technology and help shape the future of a key business platform, we’ll love to hear from you.
