Staffline Recruitment Ireland is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading charity organisation for a number of exciting opportunities within homelessness and housing support services across Belfast.

These roles offer the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, many of whom may also be affected by addiction, mental health challenges, social isolation, offending backgrounds, trauma, and complex support needs.

The Services

Successful candidates will support adults accessing a range of specialist homelessness services, including:

  • Temporary and supported accommodation services
  • Harm reduction and addiction support services
  • Housing First and tenancy sustainment programmes
  • Community-based outreach and floating support services
  • Services supporting individuals transitioning from the criminal justice system back into the community

Service users may have experienced:

  • Homelessness or rough sleeping
  • Alcohol and substance misuse
  • Mental health difficulties
  • Trauma and adverse life experiences
  • Social exclusion and isolation
  • Offending histories
  • Challenges maintaining accommodation and independent living

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support designed to empower individuals to overcome barriers and achieve greater independence.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Supporting service users to achieve their personal goals and aspirations
  • Building trusting and professional relationships
  • Providing emotional and practical support
  • Assisting with tenancy sustainment and independent living skills
  • Promoting community integration and social inclusion
  • Supporting access to healthcare, benefits, education, training and employment opportunities
  • Delivering one-to-one and group support sessions
  • Working alongside statutory and voluntary agencies
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and records
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of service users

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum of 1 year’s paid experience in a support, care, housing, homelessness, community or mental health setting

OR

  • 2 years’ relevant voluntary experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good IT and administrative skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable adults

  • A compassionate and non-judgemental approach

  • Flexibility to work a varied rota, including evenings and weekends

Desirable

  • Experience supporting individuals affected by homelessness, addiction or mental health challenges
  • Relevant Health & Social Care qualification
  • NISCC registration
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
