Job Description:

Our client isseeking an ambitious and commercially minded Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join theirgrowing team based in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with experience working directly for a subcontractor, ideally within the roofing sector, although candidates from other specialist subcontractor backgrounds will also be considered.

Working closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects across a diverse portfolio, including high-end residential developments and data centres. The role is predominantly post-contract, with regular site visits to monitor progress, build relationships, and ensure commercial objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the commercial management of multiple projects from award through to final account.
  • Prepare and submit interim applications for payment and variations.
  • Assess, priceand negotiate variations and compensation events.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts where required.
  • Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow updates.
  • Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Attend regular site visits across London and surrounding areas to monitor project progress and maintain strong relationships with site teams and clients.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and report findings to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual obligations and commercial targets.
  • Liaise with project managers, site managers, clients, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the UK construction sector.
  • Previous experience working directly for a subcontractor preferred, but not essential.
  • Roofing subcontractor experience is highly desirable but not essential; candidates from other specialist subcontractor backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working on post-contract commercial activities.
  • Good understanding of standard forms of contract.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Organised, proactiveand able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
