Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist based at Three Towns Resource Centre, Nelson Road, Saltcoats. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
30 hours per week.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner to provide person‑centred, specialised assessment and care that addresses the complex functional, cognitive and psychosocial needs of people presenting at a GP practice. Applicants should be able to demonstrate competencies for care and rehabilitation of people with a range of needs and the ability to adapt to changing levels of activity and acuity. Clinical skills and knowledge across a range of settings is essential. You will need to have excellent communication skills along with a proactive and dynamic attitude.
Post holders will be confident in managing a complex caseload, using evidence‑based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
As a developing service improvement and evaluation skills are essential. The successful candidate will be involved in the ongoing development of the occupational therapy service in Primary Care. This will also include supervision of junior colleagues and students and participation in a programme of inter‑disciplinary training. The successful candidate will be supported to further develop their clinical and leadership skills with an expectation that the post holder will be responsible for specific aspects of service development and delivery within the occupational therapy service.
Caseload allocation will be undertaken in collaboration with the General Practitioner / Multi‑Disciplinary Team or through self‑referral. There is an ongoing commitment to providing dynamic professional and clinical supervision which meets our staff and service needs. Line management supervision will be provided by a Band 7 occupational therapist. Clinical supervision is available in a range of formats.
Active engagement with peers across North Ayrshire / Pan‑Ayrshire services is supported through professional development groups and a range of forums. National benchmarking and engagement is encouraged and supported. In‑house and external training is also available.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
We require an Occupational Therapist who is HCPC registered, with a Diploma, Degree or Masters qualification in Occupational Therapy. As a team we are keen to support flexible working practices which benefit the health and wellbeing aspirations of both our service users and staff. This would include looking at part‑time and flexible working.
