Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Marine Risk Consultant to provide specialist marine safety and risk management support across marine survey and construction projects. This role will be primarily office-based, working closely with project teams and contract partners to ensure the safe planning, mobilisation, and execution of marine operations.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in marine survey and/or construction environments, with a strong understanding of risk management processes, regulatory requirements, and marine safety best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert marine safety and risk management advice to project and marine teams.
• Support the safe implementation of company standards, policies, and expectations across marine operations.
• Engage proactively with internal stakeholders and external contract partners, both remotely and during site and port visits.
• Review contractor and vessel documentation to support safe and timely vessel mobilisations.
• Participate in and contribute to Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) workshops and other project risk reviews.
• Assess marine project procedures, method statements, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and operational safety.
• Monitor contractor performance and provide oversight during project execution where required.
• Identify, report, and support the resolution of incidents, unsafe behaviours, and substandard safety performance.
• Promote continuous improvement in marine safety culture and operational risk management.

Requirements

• Extensive safety experience within marine survey, offshore construction, or related marine operations.
• Strong knowledge of UK marine industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Proven experience reviewing marine procedures, risk assessments, and mobilisation documentation.
• Detailed understanding of risk assessment methodologies and their practical application to marine activities.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and operational personnel.
• NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) preferred, or demonstrable equivalent experience and knowledge gained through industry practice.
• Full UK driving licence essential.
