Underwriting Manager

Edenbrook are partnering with an Insurance Service Provider seeking an Underwriting Manager (Syndicate). The role is supporting newly created syndicates entering Lloyd’s with business planning processes and Underwriting practices with a focus to the commerciality of new entrants to the market.

The core responsibilities of this role are:

• Support in delivering the underwriting oversight framework and onboarding new syndicates.
• Oversee the implementation of the Underwriting Framework in collaboration with underwriting management and operations teams.
• Monitor syndicate performance against business plans, reviewing underwriting reports and investigating variances with key stakeholders.
• Lead the review and challenge of Syndicate Business Forecasts (SBFs), ensuring timely submission to Lloyd’s and recommending corrective actions where required.
• Chair underwriting discussions for assigned syndicates, including leading monthly Underwriting Committee matters and coordinating Mid-Year Change requests.
• Collaborate with Underwriting Controls on governance, BAU oversight activities, documentation reviews, and maintaining accurate records and action logs.
• Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s Principles for Doing Business, regulatory requirements, and contribute to ad hoc underwriting projects and new business initiatives.

The successful candidate will:

• Have a background in Technical / Commercial Underwriting 5+ years
• Underwrite a specialty class within a Lloyd’s Syndicate
• Have a portfolio perspective of the class that they write
