Are you an experienced Plant Engineer, HGV Technician or Agricultural Engineer looking for your next challenge? We’re recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a busy and growing service team covering Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

This is a field-based role where you’ll travel directly to customer sites, carrying out servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of construction plant machinery. Every day brings something different, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving and working independently.

The Role

  • Service, maintain and repair construction plant machinery at customer sites.
  • Attend machine breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance and inspections.
  • Use electronic diagnostic equipment to identify electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Complete digital job sheets, service reports and timesheets accurately.
  • Order parts efficiently and liaise with the parts department to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Work closely with the Service Supervisor to deliver exceptional customer support.
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of apprentice engineers.
  • Carry out workshop-based repairs when required.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed safely and in line with manufacturer specifications and health & safety standards.

About You

  • A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent in:
    • Construction Plant Maintenance
    • Heavy Vehicle (HGV)
    • Light Vehicle
    • Agricultural Engineering
    • Or a similar mechanical engineering discipline
  • Experience working on construction plant, heavy equipment or similar machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Diesel engines
    • Hydraulics
    • Electrical systems
    • Transmissions
    • Electronic diagnostics and fault finding
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Good IT skills for completing digital service documentation.
  • A positive attitude with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • A full UK driving licence.
