About The Role:

The dynamic and flourishing School of Architecture, Computing & Engineering at the University of Wolverhampton maintains strong industry ties and offers professionally accredited programmes both domestically and internationally. The School manages a well-established portfolio of Project Management and Built Environment programmes, including Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Property and Real Estate Management, and Building Control. As part of its internationalisation strategy, the School is delivering programmes overseas and is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and experienced academics to support the delivery of its Project Management and Built Environment programmes, with an initial focus on delivery in China.
You will be expected to spend periods of the academic year undertaking teaching and related academic activities at the University of Wolverhampton’s newly established Joint Education Institute (JEI) in Kunming, China, through agreed periods of flying faculty delivery. The pattern and duration of overseas activity will be agreed in advance and will be determined by programme and operational requirements. Overseas teaching is expected to comprise a number of teaching blocks, typically totalling up to three months per academic year, with no individual visit normally exceeding 30 days.
You will contribute to teaching, supervision and academic development across undergraduate and postgraduate provision, both in China and within the UK. This role involves working closely with our partner to ensure high-quality programme delivery and an excellent student experience aligned with the University’s academic standards.
You will be responsible for the design, content and delivery of teaching across Project Management and Built Environment disciplines, ensuring high academic standards and an engaging learning experience. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to review and enhance programmes, contribute to curriculum development in line with the University’s strategic objectives, policies and procedures, and support assessment through the provision of timely, constructive feedback. You will also contribute to the wider student experience through personal tutoring and academic support, both in the UK and overseas.
The role includes active engagement in research and scholarly activity, working both independently and as part of established research groups within the School and Faculty, including the Construction Future Research Centre (CFRC). You should demonstrate a strong track record of research dissemination through high-quality publications and show the potential to secure external research funding, develop collaborative research partnerships and generate external income.
You must hold a PhD in Project Management, the Built Environment, or a closely related discipline. You should have expertise in one or more areas of Project Management and the Built Environment, together with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary academic team and collaborate closely with colleagues across the School and University, as well as with our partner in China.
Appointment will be conditional on you being able to obtain and maintain the right to work in China.
