The role:

As a Support Services Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality domestic and catering services, helping to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors. Within Health Centres, this role focuses on providing a core cleaning service.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent post, working part-time hours (19.2)
  • These hours will be worked Monday to Thursday 15.00 – 19.00 and Monday to Friday 15.00 – 18.43
  • This post will be based at Dykebar Hospital. You will be based within the advertised service and will be required to work flexibly across a range of clinical areas and departments. The role requires a flexible approach to daily duties to meet the needs of the service.
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

You will follow agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with the NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and the Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice.

You will rotate across clinical areas and departments, delivering an efficient, high-quality cleaning service while following defined work schedules for allocated areas.

You will ensure the safe and economical use of cleaning agents in line with manufacturers’ instructions and operate mechanical cleaning equipment where required.

You will monitor cleaning stock levels, notify your Supervisor when additional materials are required, and assist with checking deliveries of cleaning supplies and equipment.

You will wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by the department and accurately complete all required daily and weekly cleaning records.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Full training will be provided to ensure you can carry out your duties safely and confidently. This includes training in cleaning methods, the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, infection prevention and control procedures, and departmental policies and practices.
