About the Role – Locum Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Locum Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary therapy team supporting children and young people aged 4-19 years with complex needs within a specialist educational setting in Sutton.

You will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Therapy Assistants and teaching staff to provide high-quality, evidence-based interventions that support children in achieving their full potential.

Client Group

You will support children and young people with a range of complex needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties
  • Sensory processing difficulties
  • Complex physical and developmental needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an independent paediatric caseload.
  • Complete specialist Occupational Therapy assessments.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy interventions.
  • Develop and implement therapy programmes.
  • Support pupils with sensory processing and functional difficulties.
  • Prepare reports and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Provide advice and training to parents, carers and school staff.
  • Work closely with education, health and social care professionals.
  • Monitor outcomes and evaluate interventions.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and service development activities.

Requirements

  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Previous paediatric Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Experience working with children with complex needs and SEND.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and evidence-based practice.
