– Undertake comprehensive Child and Family Assessments to inform safeguarding and care planning decisions.
– Complete Human Rights Assessments, ensuring compliance with the Human Rights Act 1998 and upholding individuals’ rights to dignity, accommodation, family life, and support.
– Manage complex cases involving:
- Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
- No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)
- Intentional Homelessness
– Support young people through the asylum and immigration process from the point of presentation to the Local Authority.
– Carry out Merton-compliant Age Assessments where required.
– Work collaboratively with Housing Services to assess and respond to homelessness presentations and intentionality decisions.
– Develop, implement, and regularly review care plans, pathway plans, and accommodation solutions.
– Build effective partnerships with key agencies, including Health, Education, Legal Representatives, Housing Services, and the Home Office.
– Establish strong working relationships with fieldwork and Children in Care teams to ensure smooth transitions to longer-term services where appropriate.
Essential Requirements:
– Significant experience working within Children’s Social Care, particularly Duty & Assessment services.
– Demonstrable experience and knowledge of: NRPF legislation and assessments Age Assessments (Merton compliant) UASC casework Homelessness and intentional homelessness assessments
