This is an exciting opportunity and as part of our team you will take on the fascinating and challenging role of becoming a renal nurse. You will play an integral role in maintaining and developing a centre of clinical excellence and work in an environment that meets the needs of both clients and team members.
You will ideally have at least 6 months post registration experience. A willingness to undertake training within the speciality is essential as relevant education and training will be provided by an excellent in-service training programme supported by an established Renal Education Team. We encourage all applicants to arrange an informal visit.Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision including inpatient wards and units as required.
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
- Assist and advise unregistered staff in the delivery of patient care.
- Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly.
- Band 5 Nurses in possession of the renal course will have the ability to be in charge of a shift in the absence of band 8 or 7.
- Organise one’s own work load ensuring most effective use of time.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
- Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants and students helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
