Job Description:

Quakers in Britain – a faith group committed to working for equality and peace – is seeking a Commercial and Estates Director to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Quakers in Britain Commercial and Estates teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the safe, secure and sustainable management of buildings and land, ensuring the wellbeing of staff, visitors and tenants.
  • Providing strategic leadership and vision for estates and facilities management.
  • Advising the organisation on the sustainability and environmental performance of properties and commercial activities.
  • Ensuring estates and facilities policies and plans are legally compliant, financially robust, and support organisational priorities.
  • Overseeing commercial negotiations and agreements for leases, tenants, contractors and suppliers to maximise income and secure sustainable partnerships.
  • Overseeing the marketing strategy and activity (including PR, digital and social media) across all trading entities.
  • Coordinating and approving the annual budgets and operational plans for Commercial and Estates & Facilities.
  • Leading on projects and programmes to continually improve client and customer experiences, business performance and sustainability.

Skills and Experience

  • A background in the leadership and management of a multidisciplinary team within the attractions or conferencing sector, with knowledge of buildings and facility management.
  • Experience of creating and implementing long-term commercial strategies.
  • Significant experience of managing large budgets (£3m upwards) and teams (20 upwards) in a commercial context.
  • An achievement in innovative and creative business development.
  • A track record of achievement in planning and delivering high standards of service.
  • A history of exceeding income targets.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and present it to stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and manage revenue and expenditure budgets.
  • Broad knowledge of event management systems, epos, AV and other tech.
  • Sympathy for Quaker values and ways of working.

Salary: c. £73,000 per annum.

Contract and Hours: Permanent, full-time.

Location: Friends House, Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ.
