Job Description:

This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive training program in modern machining processes including CNC milling, CNC turning, laser cutting, CNC press braking, and robotic welding. You will work on state‑of‑the‑art equipment in a Sandbach‑based manufacturing environment.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 07.30 am–04.30 pm. Friday: 07.30 am–12.30 pm. 39 hours per week (day shift only). Apprenticeship start date: 1 September 2026. Duration: 3 years 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, laser cutting machines and press brakes.
  • Adjust machine parameters such as feeds, speeds and tool positions.
  • Program and run robotic welding systems.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and perform quality checks on components.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance, safety checks and record keeping.
  • Apply risk assessment, hazard identification and environmental best practices.
  • Plan work, manage resources, and follow quality assurance procedures.
  • Use fault‑finding and diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians and other team members.

Training

  • Structured Level 3 Apprenticeship programme delivered by Cheshire College – South & West.
  • Time away from work for specialist training in health and safety, environmental responsibility, machine operation, programming and quality assurance.
  • Full support to study for functional skills (English & maths) if required.

Requirements

  • GCSE in Mathematics (grade 4) and Science (grade 4). Further qualifications or industry experience will be considered.
