Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist seeking a role in a brand new service?

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an Occupational Therapist role within our newly established Assertive Outreach Team (AOT).

This innovative service will provide high-quality, person‑centred care to individuals with complex mental health needs who may struggle to engage with traditional services. Operating across Oxford, the team will deliver proactive, flexible support, responding to need in a timely and coordinated manner.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation and the principles of recovery and enablement/reablement.
  • Complete and interpret assessments, evaluating the impact of illness, disability or environmental factors on the individual’s ability to carry out his or her desired activities and occupations.
  • Use specialist clinical skills and reasoning to manage a caseload with complex needs, working with a high degree of autonomy and referring to senior staff when necessary.
  • Plan and implement specialist individual and/or group interventions collaboratively, to enable service users to achieve valued goals and desired occupational performance outcomes.
  • Travel independently between sites within the Trust.

Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration

Experience

  • Significant experience working as a Senior Occupational Therapist
  • Experience working as a Lead Occupational Therapist

Expertise

  • Experience working in Forensic Mental Health/Prisons

Training

  • Leadership trained
  • Sensory trained
  • Trauma Informed Care trained
