GenTech Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experiencedHGV Trailer Mechanic / Welder on behalf of a well-established transport and logistics company based inBallymena.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy in-house workshop maintaining a modern fleet of HGV tractor units and trailers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring vehicles remain safe, roadworthy and fully compliant through planned servicing, maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers.
- Complete scheduled safety inspections and identify defects.
- Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual testing.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
- Attend vehicle breakdowns when required.
- Complete job cards, inspection reports and maintenance records accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
- Work to planned maintenance schedules and operational deadlines.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures.
- Work closely with colleagues to maximise workshop efficiency.
Essential Requirements
- Industry-recognised mechanical qualificationor at least 2 years’ experience in an HGV mechanic role.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Welding experience is desirable.
- HGV licence preferred but not essential.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Flexible approach to working in a fast-paced workshop.
