Contract Type: Full Time (negotiable 32-40 hours per week)

Job Overview:
The Governance Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective governance, risk management, compliance, and quality assurance frameworks. The role ensures that the organisation operates in accordance with relevant healthcare regulations, professional standards, and internal policies while supporting continuous improvement in patient safety and service quality.
This role will also support the ongoing development of nursing and healthcare assistant (HCA) staff, as well as providing expert clinical input to maintain procurement and standardisation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:1. Quality Governance
- Lead on clinical governance activities, ensuring compliance with regulation and best practice standards.
- Oversee incident and complaint management processes, ensuring timely investigation, resolution, and shared learning.
- Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, ensuring they are up to date and evidence based.
- Lead on the delivery of the clinical audit programme to monitor and improve quality of care.
- Chair monthly Governance, Compliance & Quality Meetings, prepare and submit reports to the Quarterly Clinical Governance and Board Meetings.
- Monitor changes in healthcare regulations and advise leadership on necessary actions.
- Prepare for regulatory inspections and audits.
- Maintain the corporate risk register.
2. Professional Clinical Leadership
- Provide visible and accessible clinical leadership across the organisation.
- Support the Nursing and HCA staff group in their continued professional development.
- Support the Operational Team in the development of strategic and development initiatives.
- Promote a culture of learning, reflection, and continuous improvement in clinical practice.
- Act as a role model for safe, effective, and compassionate care.
3. Clinical Expertise and Procurement Support
- Offer expert clinical advice to support the procurement, evaluation, rationalisation and standardisation of clinical consumables to enable cost saving across the Group.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure cost-effective and clinically appropriate purchasing decisions.
- Ensure all clinical consumables meet required quality, safety, and infection control standards and are appropriately stored and accounted for.
Essential Requirements
- Registered healthcare professional with current registration with the relevant professional regulatory body.
- Experience of managing clinical incidents, complaints investigations, audits, and service improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections.
- Significant post registration experience in a similar role, specifically quality governance.
- Proven leadership and/or management experience.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, policy development, and audit processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead changes, influence stakeholders, and inspire teams.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in procurement or standardisation of clinical consumables.
- Formal teaching, mentoring, or coaching qualification.
- Experience working with multisite or multidisciplinary teams.
