Job overview
Children’s Therapies is a supportive and well established, integrated team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists working across a range of community settings including early years clinics, mainstream and special schools, within Sandwell.
We are looking for experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapists to take a lead role in developing and delivering our service provision into schools using a tiered model approach.
Main duties of the job
To provide universal, targeted and specialist support to children and young people referred to the service .
To work with parents and carers to ensure they are confident and competent to implement advice / therapy strategies into the child’s daily routine.
To contribute to Education Health and Care assessments and provide written reports outlining abilities needs and required support.
To provide leadership, supervision and support for junior staff and colleagues within the wider team.

Qualifications
- Relevant professional degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registration
Experience
- Evidence of a range of post-graduate and post-competency experience working with children in a variety of settings, with a range of paediatric conditions and experience of delivering a range of appropriate, evidence-based interventions
- Experience of managing and prioritising a case-load.
- Experience of participating in the delivery and development of training to a variety of recipients, both professional and non-professional.
- Experience of participating in clinical service development in response to local and national priorities involving audit, quality initiatives, research and user feedback.
- Experience of working with assistants, students, newly qualified therapists and others as appropriate.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of conditions and potential impact on children’s occupational performance
- Knowledge of government directives that influence the provision of children’s services
- Excellent written skills for the purposes of report writing, designing training packages and contributing to policies
