MDI Medical is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Technical Support Engineer to join its growing Healthcare Technology team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of healthcare technology solutions, supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ongoing service of medical devices, digital health hardware, and software across customer sites in Ireland (based out of Kells, Co. Meath).
Role Overview
The Technical Support Engineer, when fully trained, will have the ability and experience to handle day-to-day technical support calls, installations, and work tasks related to the management and support of MDI Medical’s Healthcare Technology portfolio.
This position is a field-based support role with a primary focus on onsite customer support and supporting team members. We are looking for a motivated self-starter with the ability to organise, prioritise, and multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic industry. The successful candidate will have confident communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical or clinical customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the company’s and third-party multi-vendor healthcare technology solutions, including medical devices, digital health hardware, and software.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve customer issues through workshop repair, remote support, and onsite support.
- Deliver support to a range of stakeholders, including IT teams, clinical engineers, and clinical staff.
- Carry out planned maintenance, preventive maintenance, and calibration activities at customer sites.
- Install, configure, and optimise hardware, software, network products, and related systems at customer locations.
- Respond promptly to customer queries and service issues, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service quality.
- Provide technical support and demo build/installations to the MDI Sales team.
- Manage spare parts and tools.
- Assist with maintaining and updating Healthcare Technology IT equipment to the latest standards.
- Document all support calls and jobs in a timely manner using the dedicated service software platform.
- Work closely with team members to advise when hardware is ready for installation.
- Adhere fully to the quality standards required by the company’s ISO certification.
Qualifications / Core Competencies
- Engineering qualification desirable and/or industry-related certification.
- Good working knowledge of IT systems and hardware.
- Experience with Microsoft applications.
- Strong technical problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to work independently or within a team/project environment.
- High professional work and quality standards.
- Ability to plan and organise work effectively.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer relationship skills.
