Reference: 7f612a8b Purpose of the Role To provide support for a 7-year-old boy with autism who is non-verbal.

Main Duties We are seeking a Support Worker to help this child access age-appropriate leisure activities within the local community.

As he is unable to communicate verbally, he will require support and guidance to engage with and understand new environments.

The child may become overwhelmed and display challenging behaviours due to frustration when faced with unfamiliar experiences.

He will need calm, patient, and consistent support, along with close supervision, to help him explore new toys, activities, and surroundings in a safe and supportive way.

Support will initially take place at home to allow him to build a trusting relationship with his support worker before gradually introducing outings into the community.

Assistance will also be required with all aspects of personal care.

Hours 4 hours per week during all school holiday periods.

Some flexibility is required regarding working days, which will be discussed at interview.

Rate of Pay £14.67 per hour.

Holiday entitlement is5.6 weeks per year (pro rata). Any agreed out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed by the employer.

Person Specification The successful applicant must: Have experience of working with children with disabilities and a positive understanding of their needs Have a genuine interest in supporting children with complex needs Be able to work on their own initiative Be punctual and reliable, as the child requires constant supervision Be flexible in their approach Have a positive, caring, and patient nature Respect confidentiality at all times A full driving licence is essential, and the use of a car insured for business use is required.

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
