Job summary
Join our Technical Services team and play a vital role in delivering high-quality aseptic and chemotherapy services that directly support patient care. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy or Science Technician who is passionate about quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
As a Higher Level Pharmacy or Science Technician within Technical Services, you will be responsible for the safe preparation and dispensing of aseptic and chemotherapy products, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with GMP, national guidance and local procedures. You will support the day-to-day management of the aseptic unit, supervise and develop technical staff, prioritise workload to meet the needs of patients and clinical services, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual with excellent attention to detail, who can maintain concentration while working in a busy, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have strong communication and leadership skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care. Experience of working within aseptic services, together with an understanding of GMP and quality systems, would be advantageous. The role requires the ability to work with hazardous medicines, stand for prolonged periods, and undertake manual handling activities within a specialist aseptic environment.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training – Essential
- NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Services or Equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or The Science Council.
- Pre and in process checking (PIPC)
- Accredited Checking Course (ACPT)
Experience – Essential
- Experience of training & supervising staff ideally in aseptic environment

Special Circumstances – Essential
- Able to travel to other sites within the Trust and to venues for training.
- Available to work weekends and public holidays on rota with other pharmacy technicians.
