About the role

Could your investigative skills help protect consumers, support businesses and shape a fairer trading environment across the Isle of Man?

Join the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading and play a key role in maintaining a fair, safe and trusted marketplace. In this exciting role, you’ll tackle unfair trading practices, support consumer protection, investigate complaints and work alongside businesses, consumers and partner agencies to uphold trading standards across the Island.

You’ll take ownership of a varied and rewarding workload, carrying out inspections, leading investigations, gathering evidence, providing advice and guidance, and supporting enforcement action where required. Qualified Trading Standards Officers will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of legislation and policy, helping to shape the future of consumer protection on the Island. Working within a small, supportive and highly professional team, you’ll build specialist expertise while delivering work that has a direct and visible impact on the community.

We are seeking to appoint a Professionally Qualified Trading Standards Officer who can undertake the full range of Trading Standards responsibilities and contribute specialist expertise to the team. However, should a suitably qualified candidate not be identified, applications will also be considered from individuals with significant experience in enforcement, compliance, licensing, regulatory or investigative roles for appointment as an Enforcement Officer.
