POSITION: Creative Arts Facilitator (SEN) – Across Sheffield Secondary Schools
AGENCY: Academics Ltd
TERM: Ad-hoc Supply & Fixed-Term | School Hours | Mon-Fri
Do you believe art can unlock what words cannot?
We’re looking for an Artist‑Educator to deliver inspiring KS4 Art sessions across Sheffield’s SEN settings—working with students who have Autism, SEMH, and other learning differences. This isn’t about perfect technique. It’s about building confidence, emotional regulation, and self‑expression through paint, clay, and creativity.
The Role:
- Lead mixed‑media workshops adapted for sensory and cognitive needs
- Make exam board portfolios accessible and unthreatening
- Build trust with pupils who’ve disengaged from traditional education
- Work in small groups or 1:1 settings
Why Academics?
- Choose your days – total flexibility
- Placements matched to your strengths
- Dedicated SEN consultant on hand
- No planning or marking – just teach
- £125 voucher for every teacher you refer
What You’ll Get:
- Competitive daily pay based on experience (PAYE, weekly, inc. holiday pay)
- Free CPD, including SEN‑specific training
- Variety of school environments
- The reward of helping teens achieve qualifications they never thought possible
You’ll Need:
- QTS with an Art specialism (Secondary trained preferred)
- Ability to simplify complex ideas into hands‑on learning
- Patience, positivity, and calm under pressure
- Rapid rapport‑building with reluctant learners
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
SEN experience helpful but not essential – passion and empathy matter most.
