About the Role

We are currently recruiting experienced and dedicated Children’s Support Workers to join our agency team, supporting a secure unit in Peterborough.

The young people you will support present with complex emotional needs and very challenging behaviours. You will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment while promoting positive outcomes and supporting their day‑to‑day wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive and professional relationships with children and young people.
  • Support residents with daily routines, education, activities, and personal development.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours using appropriate de‑escalation techniques.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, safety, and positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with residential staff and other professionals to deliver high‑quality care.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete documentation in line with safeguarding and organisational policies.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and child protection at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children and young people in a residential, educational, care, or similar setting.
  • Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviours and complex emotional needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A compassionate, resilient, and reliable approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
  • Relevant qualifications in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field.
