SEMH Support Assistant

Location: Aylesbury Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full Time, Temporary to Permanent Salary: £90–£115 per day

Role Overview

As a SEMH Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have social, emotional, and mental health needs, delivering structured and targeted support to help them thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored SEMH support to individual pupils
  • Work one-to-one with pupils to support emotional regulation
  • Implement effective support strategies and interventions
  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to support behaviour management plans

Classroom Environment

  • Maintain a calm and consistent atmosphere
  • Focus on relationship-building
  • Provide structured and clear support
  • Set and uphold clear expectations

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Resilience, patience, and empathy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with young people

Indicators of Success

  • Pupils demonstrate improved emotional regulation
  • Positive changes in behaviour
  • Increased pupil engagement in learning
  • Enhanced confidence and self-esteem

Previous experience in SEMH or similar roles is highly desirable.
