Overview

This position is for a Security Officer working an average of 40 hours per week, on a rolling rota, at £13.88 per hour. We offer 28 days annual leave including public holidays (pro rata for part‑time workers).

Churchill Square Shopping Centre Security Officers are responsible for the safety and welfare of members of the public who visit the Centre, to ensure that they have a pleasant shopping experience without fear of any incidents that may affect that experience.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
You are employed as ambassadors for the site to create and maintain an environment in which all law‑abiding members of the public, whether shoppers, visitors, staff or contractors, can feel safe and secure.
Great emphasis is placed on customer service within the role where your objective is to create a pleasant environment for all shoppers and tenants.
- Patrolling both front and back of house areas
- Deterring and reporting criminal behaviour
- H&S safety checks
- Rotating static positions within the centre and car park
- Carrying out vacant unit checks
- Refusing entry to known offenders
- Supporting Brand Partners to effectively manage incidents of antisocial or criminal behaviour
- Reporting defects/spillages within the Centre
- Taking part in training exercises to improve knowledge of site procedures
- Supporting service partners with related issues and procedures to reinforce the site’s one‑team ethos
Person Specification
- Competent in dealing with members of the public
- Level of health and safety awareness
- Good knowledge of security industry and systems
- Punctual
- Able to ensure all procedures are followed complying with legislation and company policy
- Maintain critical standards for professionalism, service and quality assurance
- Adhere to new policies and procedures to ensure that a respectful workplace exists
Essential
- SIA licensed – Guarding or door supervisor badge preferred
