Job Description:

The Role:Service and Small works Fire Alarm EngineerTo carry out planned and reactive maintenance of fire alarm systems, alongside delivering small works projects and system modifications across a range of prestigious educational and healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities:Service and Small works Fire Alarm Engineer

Service & Maintenance:Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fire alarm systemsRespond to reactive call-outs, fault finding and system diagnosticsService both conventional and addressable systemsIdentify system deficiencies and recommend remedial actionsEnsure all servicing is completed in line with BS 5839 and industry standards

Small Works & Installations:Deliver small works projects including:

  • System extensions
  • Device additions and relocations
  • Panel and component upgrades

Carry out installation, commissioning, and testingSupport surveys and provide technical input where required

Client Management:Build strong relationships with estates teams, facilities managers, and end usersWork professionally within live environments including hospitals and universitiesClearly communicate technical issues and solutions

Complete accurate service reports, certificates, and job records (SimPro)Maintain clear documentation for all works and system modifications

Ensure compliance with:BS 5839-1 (2025) &Relevant fire safety regulations

Support system handovers and demonstrations where required

Requirements:Service and Small works Fire Alarm Engineer

Qualifications & CertificationsFIA Level 2 in Fire Detection & Alarm Systems (or equivalent)Valid UK driving licenceCSCS card (or equivalent)Manufacturer training (e.g. Gent, Advanced, Morley, Kentec, Notifier)
