SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Brighton Area
Salary: £85.50 per day
Hours: 8:45am – 3:15pm
Start Date: September
Due to ongoing growth within the SEMH Middle School we support, Masterclass are looking to appoint three dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join the team in September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs at a crucial stage in their education. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
The Role
- Support pupils with SEMH needs within the classroom and in small group settings
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Help create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
- Assist the class teacher in delivering creative and inclusive lessons
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
- Has experience working with children or young people (SEMH, SEND or alternative provision experience desirable)
- Is patient, resilient and calm under pressure
- Can build strong, professional relationships with pupils and staff
- Works well as part of a collaborative team
Must have:
- Ability to work well independently and as a team
- Has a passion to support and empower children and young people
- A DBS on the Updates Service or willing to obtain one
- Commitment to safeguarding students and young people
