Rehabilitation Instructor

We are looking for a Locum Rehabilitation Instructor to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Stonehouse Combined Medical Group, in Plymouth, Devon. This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.
Main duties of the job
- Manage patients from the Navy, Army and RAF presenting with musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries and deliver appropriate exercise rehabilitation to return serving personnel to full fitness and maximise operational effectiveness.
- Perform clinical assessments and design and implement safe and progressive exercise treatment programmes in accordance with the ERI Standards of Proficiency to Practice.
- Keep records of all specific treatments, individual patient programme exercises and group therapy sessions.
- Deliver group‑based exercise therapy sessions (up to a maximum of 15 patients) to restore normal function in coordination, balance, posture, walking/running re‑education, lifting and carrying, mobilisation, strengthening, recreational therapy and pool‑based rehab/fitness sessions.
- Work as an integral member of a multi‑disciplinary team, providing a comprehensive and professional rehab service.
- Develop good working relationships and collaborate with managers and other team members.
- Adhere to and contribute to all aspects of clinical governance and assurance.
- Communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for treatment and a good understanding of their condition and treatment plan.
- Communicate complex information clearly through presentations and written communication to patients and other MDT members.

Qualifications
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Sports Rehabilitation and a Full Graduate Membership with the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BaSRaT)
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy and a Full Graduate Membership of the Society of Sports Therapy (SST)
- Be a qualified military ERI having completed the Joint Services School of Exercise Rehabilitation Instructors (JSSERI) course
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- When an ex‑military ERI is employed and RCP completion cannot be met, the individual must demonstrate clinical currency and complete the RCP during employment
- Current certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to Level 3
Experience
- Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience managing group/class‑based exercise therapy for MSK injuries, with evidence of treating MSK injuries within the last 2 years
