Clinical Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has come for a member of staff to join our theatre Recovery team. The role is part‑time for 17 hours per week (Monday‑Friday) with shift start times of 08:00 and finish at 20:00. The role involves assisting patients with personal care after surgery, transferring patients to wards, general cleaning and checking of equipment. Theatre experience would be desired, but not essential, as would NHS experience.
Main duties of the job
- Provide and support patients as necessary with both personal and clinical care activities.
- Maintain accurate records of the patient’s care in the Electronic Patient Record (Cerner) in line with Trust, professional and departmental guidelines.
- Observe patients and report any changes to a Registered professional for review.
- Report any abnormal findings directly to the registered professional in charge or doctor.
- Undertake a range of basic housekeeping, stock control and administrative duties within the clinical environment.
Job responsibilities
A Clinical Support Worker (CSW) is responsible for providing healthcare to patients and supporting basic clinical duties under the supervision of Registered Nurses, doctors and other registered healthcare professionals. Their role is essential in ensuring the well‑being and comfort of patients during their admission, ensuring they receive high‑quality care. CSWs work within the multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment. Day‑to‑day tasks include: supporting personal care activities, meeting individual patient needs, and undertaking clinical duties in line with training, competence levels and Trust policy.
Person Specification
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
- Level 3 qualification (e.g. A‑Levels, NVQ3) in Health & Social Care, or a good standard of A‑Level education and agreement to undertake the relevant Level 3 qualification on appointment.
- Experience working in a clinical environment and undertaking relevant clinical skills with proven competencies.
- Experience working in the NHS.
Knowledge and Skills
- Evidence of competence in relevant specialist skills or tasks.
- Knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of a Clinical Support Worker.
- Previous experience and training in manual handling of patients using appropriate equipment.
- Understanding of the importance of promoting patient independence.
- Ability to provide support and reassurance to patients.

- Positive attitude and ability to act on feedback.
- Polite, friendly, approachable and self‑motivated.

Salary
£25,760 to £27,476 per annum pro rata.
