The Role
As a Class 1 Driver, you'll be responsible for completing planned deliveries and collections while ensuring all transport operations are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with current legislation as a HGV Driver.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 (Category CE) articulated vehicles.
- Complete scheduled deliveries and collections across the UK.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects immediately.
- Ensure all loads are correctly secured and transported safely.
- Complete all delivery paperwork and electronic records accurately.
- Comply with DVSA regulations, Drivers' Hours Rules and the Working Time Directive.
- Maintain accurate digital tachograph records at all times.
- Communicate effectively with the transport office regarding journey progress, delays or incidents.
- Keep vehicles clean, roadworthy and professionally presented as a Class 1 driver.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A valid UK Category CE (Class 1) driving licence.
- A valid Driver CPC qualification.
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Good knowledge of UK road transport legislation and drivers' hours regulations.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently while also being part of a wider transport team.
- Flexibility to work varying start times, with occasional nights away when required.
