Teaching Assistant

We are looking to appoint a caring, considerate, enthusiastic, and well‑motivated Teaching Assistant to join our talented team. Good Maths and English GCSE results are desired. Previous TA experience is preferred, but training will be provided if necessary. A professional approach is essential.
May be of interest to someone considering a career in teaching or with strong IT, maths or science skills.
The role will involve working with a range of students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 in the classroom, small groups and 1:1 in a variety of subject areas.
Key Tasks
- Help students to learn as effectively as possible in both group situations and individually.
- Establish a positive working relationship with students.
- Champion the inclusion of students with special needs.
- Promote the students’ self‑esteem.
- Encourage independence and self‑reliance in the students.
- Support and implement the strategies outlined on the students’ EHCPs and One Plans.
Support Teachers
- Liaise with staff where possible.
- Provide feedback to staff on successes and difficulties students may be experiencing.
Support Subject Teams
- Provide oversight and continuity for students with SEN within the link subject.
- Liaise with Heads of Year Groups and Subject Leaders as necessary.
Support SENCO
- Provide information on the progress of identified students.
- Oversee gathering of information on the named students with statements.
Professional Development
- Contribute fully to the performance management arrangements.
- Identify personal professional needs within the context of the role held.
- Share and contribute insights and expertise in staff meetings and with the line manager.
