Willow Grove Primary School is looking to recruit 2 highly motivated, energetic, and passionate teachers.

Location: Willow Grove, Ashton-In-Makerfield, Wigan, WN4 8XF.

Pay: Qualified Teachers Pay Spine + SEN1.

Contact hours: 23.33 contact hours.

Positions: 1 permanent, 1 temporary until 31 August 2027.

Required from September 2026.

About the Role

At Willow Grove, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential. Our specialist school caters to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). This is a tremendous opportunity for mainstream teachers with a proven record in school for supporting children with challenging behaviour, or a teacher with a background in specialist provision. We have adopted strong attachment and trauma-informed practices (ATP) as the basis for working with our pupils and are looking to further develop our team with staff who have knowledge in this area.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess tailored lessons to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Create a trauma‑informed safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt strategies as necessary.

Personal Qualities

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience of working in a school setting with children with SEN.
  • Strong behaviour management and differentiation skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach to teaching.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • High aspirations for all learners.
  • High standards in their own professional conduct.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding children.
  • Specialism in outdoor learning or PE provision is desirable but not essential.
