A new specialist school for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is preparing to open its doors in January 2027. With capacity for 96 students, the provision will offer a nurturing, inclusive and aspirational environment where every learner is supported to thrive.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to play a central role in developing the emotional, behavioural and psychological support offered across the school. You will work directly with children and young people to assess their needs and deliver tailored interventions that promote growth, independence and wellbeing.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will help embed Positive Behaviour Support strategies throughout the provision, ensuring consistent, compassionate and evidence based practice. You will also provide specialist guidance and training to staff and families, supporting them to better understand and respond to the needs of the young people in their care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completing psychological assessments and delivering targeted interventions.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of Positive Behaviour Support across the school.
  • Providing guidance, consultation and training to staff teams and families.
  • Leading group sessions and offering one-to-one therapeutic support.
  • Contributing to multi disciplinary planning and decision making.
  • Supervising Assistant Psychologists.

What We’re Looking For

  • HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist with a postgraduate qualification in Psychology.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with Autism and complex needs.
  • Background in educational, care or clinical settings.
  • Strong multi-disciplinary working skills.
  • Experience supervising junior psychology staff.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Full UK driving Licence
