We are offering a rare opportunity to transition out of the motor trade and into the rail industry — with full training provided.No rail experience neededWe will cross-train you from automotive into rail engineering You’ll use your existing mechanical skills while learning to work on freight locomotives and rolling stock — a stable, higher-paying, and long-term career path.
Ideal Background We are specifically looking for people from:
- Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic
- Automotive Technician (Dealership or Independent Garage)
- HGV / LGV Technician
- Plant Fitter / Plant Mechanic
- REME / Forces Vehicle Mechanic
If you can diagnose and fix vehicles — we can train you on trains
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out maintenance and servicing on rail vehicles
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Performing inspections and testing
- Completing maintenance paperwork
- Working independently in a mobile role (van provided)
Working Pattern
- Rolling 6-week rota
- Typically 4 x 10-hour shifts
- Includes “as required” support week
What You Need
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance / Mechanical Engineering
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to pass:
- DBS check
- Medical
- Drug & alcohol screening
- British citizen (role requirement)
