Hear from our Healthcare Assistants
Meet Holly: I’ve been working as a healthcare assistant for Rennie Grove Peace for just over a year now. I can honestly say it is the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I love being part of a team that not only look out for each other but make such a difference every day to people’s lives when they are at their most vulnerable.
Meet Lisa: It’s a flexible job, as I work four long days and have three days off. Shifts can be flexible too. I have a disabled daughter and I find it works well around family life.
Meet Toni: We love our jobs. We are palliative carers because we want to help patients who are near the end of their life experience compassion, dignity and the best care at such a difficult time. It’s also a privilege to support the families around each patient.
A day in the life of a healthcare assistant
My favourite thing about my role is fulfilling a patient’s final wish and providing comfort for the patient and their loved ones. I would recommend this job to anyone with a truly caring nature to help others. Healthcare Assistant, Gemma, has been part of our Rapid Personalised Care Service for two years. She provides an insight to a typical working day and explains how the service gives patients choice in their final weeks of life.
It’s very meaningful to be able to go into someone’s house and care for them where they’re in their own surroundings, in their house they may have lived in for 50 years. It’s so important for them to have that personalised care in their own settings. Gabriella, a senior healthcare assistant, playing the piano for a patient and her family in their home.
