Job Description:

Role Purpose

Provide independent and balanced advice and counsel to senior stakeholders through problem identification, solving and decision-making practices.

Accountabilities

Deliver strategic advice to Group Executives to support decision-making around business challenges and opportunities.

Develop and implement strategic advisory incentives to grow and optimise the bank’s operations through market research and analysis.

Collaborate with stakeholder groups to identify appropriate strategic direction to meet the needs of Barclays clients and investors.

Build financial models to support strategic recommendations and transactions, analysing financial data, projects and transaction impacts.

Manage transactions, negotiations, structure development and post-transaction integration.

Maintain and develop client relationships, and identify new opportunities.

Identify industry trends, benchmark peers and stay current through conferences, training and research.

Leadership Expectations

At the Vice President level, contribute or set strategy, drive requirements, make recommendations for change, plan resources, budgets and policies, and ensure continuous improvements.

When managing a team, define jobs and responsibilities, plan the department’s future needs, counsel employees on performance and pay decisions, and lead specialists to influence departmental operations while balancing short‑ and long‑term goals and meeting corporate budgets and schedules.

Individual contributors will act as subject‑matter experts, guide technical direction, lead collaborative assignments, train and coach less experienced specialists, and provide information affecting long‑term profits, risks and strategic decisions.

Drive risk assessment, support control and governance agendas, and strengthen controls within the team’s work.

Responsibilities

Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross‑functional areas of impact and alignment.

Collaborate with other support areas to stay current with business activity and strategies.

Develop solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, selecting complex alternatives and conducting in‑depth analysis with interpretive thinking.

Seek out, build, and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

Extensive strategic acumen, understanding microeconomic landscape and broader economic trends across banking and other industries.

Sophisticated commercial acumen with the ability to connect data to business impact and make informed, number‑driven decisions to an executive‑level audience.

Good storytelling skills and the ability to turn complex ideas into clear, engaging messages.

Evidence of extensive strategy or consultancy experience.

Evidence of prior leadership experience.
