As a Clinical Assessor / Functional Specialist, you’ll use your clinical expertise and analytical skills in a different way meeting with benefits claimants in person, via video link, or on the phone, writing in-depth reports, and making important clinical recommendations, all while enjoying a more structured and flexible way of working.

- £39,500 starting salary, rising to £40,500 after NIDFC approval.

Job Description
In this role you’ll:
- Carry out structured assessments to understand how a person’s health condition affects their day-to-day life and/or ability to work or undertake work-related activity.
- Produce high-quality, detailed, evidence-based reports that support the Department for Communities (DfC) in making fair and informed decisions.
- Complete between two and five assessments per day, depending on the category of assessment, either face-to-face at one of our clinics, via video call, or over the telephone.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe, listen and gather information with empathy.
- Analyse clinical evidence and supporting documentation.
- Produce detailed written reports (3,0004,000 words).
- Provide clear clinical justification to support Northern Ireland Department for Communities (DfC) decisions.
- Continuously develop knowledge across a range of conditions and how they may impact daily life and/or the ability to undertake work-related activities.
QualificationsAbout You
- NMC registered Nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) with a valid PIN and no current restrictions, or
- HCPC registered Paramedic, Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with valid registration and no current restrictions, or
- GMC registered Doctor with a valid licence to practise and no current restrictions.
- Minimum of one year’s post-registration experience.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate and detailed reports.
- Comfortable working quickly to meet structured targets.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new systems while working remotely.
- Excellent observational and communication skills, with the ability to listen, empathise and ask the right questions.
- A driving licence or access to transport for assessment centre working.

Security and Compliance
Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) vetting.
