Second Chef

Role summary: The Second Chef supports the Head Chef in running kitchen operations, ensuring nutritious, diet‑specified meals for residents. The role involves planning menus, controlling stock, maintaining food‑safety standards, and developing the kitchen team.

  • Lead the kitchen team in day‑to‑day operation
  • Develop nutritious and diet‑sensitive meals for residents
  • Plan and design menus
  • Maintain stock control and food‑cost guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
  • Train, supervise, and develop staff to maximise potential

Qualifications: CGA or City & Guilds/BTEC Diploma in Catering; NVQ 2/3 in practical cookery; Health & Safety and Food Hygiene certificates (Level 2 or above). Experience in care‑home catering and budget/stock control is desirable.

Domestic

Role summary: The Domestic is responsible for cleaning, maintaining hygiene and creating a warm environment across all home areas.

  • Clean all areas of the care home
  • Adhere to infection control regulations and policies
  • Respect residents’ privacy and dignity
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for residents

Catering Assistant

Role summary: Assists in kitchen operations, preparing and serving food safely and efficiently while supporting menu planning and stock management.

  • Support kitchen cleanliness and stock control
  • Prepare produce and assist in mealtime service
  • Store produce correctly and maintain hygiene standards
  • Follow instructions from Head or Second Chef

Home Manager

Role summary: Oversees all aspects of the care home, ensuring high quality care, financial performance and regulatory compliance.

  • Lead and manage staff across the home
  • Maintain and improve care standards and resident satisfaction
  • Manage budgets, accounts and procurement
  • Build and maintain relationships with relatives, residents and external agencies

Requirements: 2–3+ years in a similar management role; knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Health and Safety legislation; strong budgeting and leadership skills.

Clinical Lead

Role summary: Provides senior nursing leadership, ensuring individual care plans are delivered, works with local GP and healthcare professionals and supports the nursing team.

  • Lead the nursing team and deliver high‑quality care plans
  • Act as a deputy for the management team
  • Support and inspire nursing staff
  • Maintain clinical knowledge and compliance with care planning

Requirements: NMC Registered Nurse; understanding of Waterlow and MUST; experience in care planning and leadership.

Receptionist

Role summary: Provides a warm welcome to visitors, manages enquiries, and supports general office duties.

  • Welcome visitors and access calls and emails promptly
  • Maintain the visitors book and routing

  • Support payroll, recruitment and selection

Requirements: Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Business Administrator

Role summary: Manages the home’s administrative functions and supports recruitment, HR and reception duties.

  • Manage data and systems for care staff
  • Support reception cover

Requirements: Experience with Microsoft Office and bespoke IT systems.

Host

Role summary: Enhances the dining experience for residents, managing the dining area and special events.

  • Ensure dining areas are prepared and maintained
  • Support special events in the home
  • Assist with the Bistro area replenishment

Requirements: Level 2 Food Hygiene (or willingness to obtain qualification), strong organisational and communication skills, flexible hours.

Registered General Nurse

Role summary: Provides clinical leadership, care planning and hands‑on nursing for residents with complex needs.

  • Lead care staff and deliver outstanding nursing care
  • Drive clinical excellence and infection prevention

Requirements: NMC Registered Nurse; knowledge of Waterlow and MUST; experience in writing comprehensive care plans.
