Job Description:

As an Accounts Assistant/Accounts Payable, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our finance department. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks, including payroll processing, pension auto-enrolment, and bank reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll and Pension Management: Process staff payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage auto-enrolments and pension contributions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Calculate SSP (Statutory Sick Pay), SMP (Statutory Maternity Pay), and other related payments
  • Accounting Software: Maintain accurate financial records using Sage 50 and QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Invoicing and Payments: Process invoices and ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Handle queries related to accounts payable and receivable
  • Reporting and Analysis: Assist in preparing financial reports and maintaining budgets.
  • Support in preparing monthly and annual financial statements
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of auto-enrolments, pension management, and payroll processes.
  • Proficiency in Sage 50, QuickBooks, and other accounting software.
  • Excellent understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation.
  • Ability to calculate and process SSP, SMP, and other statutory payments accurately.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • AAT qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
