Electrical Technical Director – Data Centres (DC) – London

The Electrical Technical Director in the Data Centres sector leads a team of electrical engineers to design and implement cutting‑edge solutions that ensure the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data centre operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day team management, vision, values and leadership.
  • Develop client relationships and brand within the UK and EMEA.
  • Consistently meet monthly and annual budgets at a team level; support MEP budget planning and seek performance improvements.
  • Work with the director and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives in the team and across the wider business.
  • Share knowledge and technical skills with colleagues worldwide.
  • Drive profitable work‑winning and maintain up‑to‑date forecasting for the team.
  • Oversee team performance including work pipeline, finance, and operational management.
  • Build relationships with clients, developers, contractors, and architects to secure WSP’s position as the engineer of choice.
  • Act as the client’s key point of contact and provide excellent client care.
  • Develop opportunities to grow business for the team.

Qualifications

  • Chartership through CIBSE/IET Engineering Council or willingness to work towards it.
  • Electrical design engineering expertise – power distribution, generation, backup systems, and energy management.
  • Innovative problem‑solving skills and ability to develop and implement solutions to complex electrical challenges.
  • Leadership and team‑management experience, fostering collaboration and mentorship.
  • Strategic vision with an ability to anticipate industry trends and align initiatives with business goals.
  • Project‑management proficiency, including planning, execution, budgeting, and quality assurance.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to evolving technologies, standards, and business needs.
  • Customer focus, ensuring systems meet or exceed client expectations.

Team

The Building Services team in London includes more than 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers, along with ICT, Controls, E&S and Smart Team members. Based in the Chancery Lane office, the team enjoys a collaborative culture that emphasizes ethical standards, professionalism, diversity, and ongoing career development.
