Location Location to be agreed with the successful candidate

We’re looking for a Senior Transformation Manager to join our newly established Transformation office at National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) for 12 months, subject to review. Reporting to the Head of Transformation, the Senior Transformation Manager plays a key role in shaping and accelerating strategic transformation across the business.

This is not a traditional programme management role. Rather than owning a single project or programme end-to-end, you will work across a portfolio of complex transformation initiatives, partnering with executive leaders to align priorities, manage interdependencies, remove barriers and ensure sustainable business outcomes are achieved.

Operating at an enterprise level, you’ll bring an organisation-wide perspective, connecting activity across multiple functions and helping leaders navigate complex change involving operating models, processes, systems, ways of working and culture. You’ll be equally comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, challenging constructively and diving deep into critical issues where intervention is needed to unlock progress.

Because we know flexibility matters, this role offers a hybrid approach to working, combining home and office working. You can be based from any of our sites across the East Midlands, West Midlands, South West or Wales, with travel to NGED locations typically required two to three times per week.

This role would suit someone who has operated within a central transformation, strategy or enterprise change function and is looking for an opportunity to drive impactful change at scale across a large, complex organisation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Partner with executives, business sponsors and senior leaders to shape, coordinate and accelerate strategic transformation activity across multiple programmes and business functions.
  • Translate strategic ambitions into structured transformation roadmaps, ensuring initiatives collectively deliver target business outcomes.
  • Identify and manage critical interdependencies across transformation programmes, driving alignment and ensuring risks, impacts and opportunities are understood.
  • Provide challenge, support and constructive intervention to help programmes overcome obstacles, accelerate delivery and realise intended benefits.
  • Facilitate decision-making and governance, providing clear insights on performance, risks, dependencies and value delivery.
  • Define and monitor outcomes, benefits measures and KPIs to track progress and support effective prioritisation.
  • Partner with delivery teams and business leaders to ensure transformation activity remains aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Bring external insights, best practice and transformation expertise to continuously improve the organisation’s approach to change.

Ideal Candidate

You’ll bring experience from a central strategy, transformation, enterprise change or programme office environment, where you’ve helped shape and coordinate complex transformation across multiple teams, functions or business units.

You’ll have:

  • Experience working within a business transformation, strategy, enterprise change or transformation office environment.
  • A track record of supporting large-scale organisational transformation involving operating models, processes, systems, ways of working and cultural change.
  • Experience working with executive stakeholders and influencing decisions in complex corporate environments.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex situations and identify the actions needed to drive progress.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and build alignment across diverse groups.
  • Experience navigating organisational complexity, competing priorities and cross-functional dependencies.
  • The ability to move between strategic thinking and hands-on intervention, providing support where it adds the greatest value.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to distil complexity into clear insights and recommendations. #LI-HYBRID #LI-HB1
