Salary: £100k

Our client, a rapidly expanding UK civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced HSEQ Director to lead, shape and elevate its health, safety, environmental and quality strategy across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
Reporting directly to the Board, the successful candidate will champion a proactive safety culture, drive environmental compliance and support sustainable business growth across regional and national operations.
The Role
- Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement and continuously refine the overarching HSEQ strategy in line with UK regulatory frameworks and ISO standards.
- Cultural Excellence: Drive a behavioural safety culture across all site operations, promoting engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure robust compliance with CDM Regulations, HSE standards and client-specific requirements across complex civil engineering environments.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the central HSEQ advisory team, providing strong operational support to project delivery teams.
- Environmental & ESG: Oversee environmental mitigation plans, waste reduction initiatives and ESG integration across site delivery.
- Incident Management: Champion root-cause investigation protocols, risk mitigation strategies and executive-level reporting to the Board.
The Person
- Proven track record as an HSEQ Director, Head of HSEQ or Senior HSEQ Manager within the UK civil engineering or major infrastructure sectors.
- Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH), with relevant environmental qualifications such as IEMA being advantageous.
- Strong understanding of UK CDM Regulations and complex civil engineering operational delivery.
- Excellent executive-level communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and operational teams.
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required by site operations.
