SEN Teaching Assistant – Reading

Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain practical experience supporting young people with additional needs?

A Secondary SEN School in Reading is seeking a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Therapists, or Teachers who want to build valuable, hands-on experience working with students with a variety of special educational needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support tailored to students with SEN.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and active participation in learning.
  • Work alongside teachers to promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Observe and monitor students’ progress, wellbeing, and engagement throughout the school day.

We’re looking for a Teaching Assistant who is:

  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
  • A confident communicator with a genuine passion for working within SEN.
  • Interested in gaining practical experience before pursuing a career in psychology or education.
  • Able to build strong, positive relationships with both students and colleagues.

Job Details

  • Location: Reading
  • Setting: Secondary SEN School
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Pay: 93-110 per day
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
  • Contract: Full-time
