Practical Skills Supervisor – Catering, Term Time
Job Purpose
The Hospitality and Catering Department at Coleg Menai is a forward-thinking department offering courses from Level 1 – 3. Teaching and learning take place with access to industry-standard equipment and within modern facilities.
We are seeking a permanent member of staff to join the College’s Hospitality and Catering Department and are looking to employ an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with industry experience.
We are looking for an individual with skills in front of house to help support the running and implementation of the Food and Beverage Service Qualifications that run alongside the Culinary courses.
The role of the practical skills supervisor will involve working under the guidance of the lecturers in providing high-quality bilingual education to learners across a range of qualifications and levels on full-time programmes. The role will include planning and delivering practical sessions in a realistic working environment and providing ongoing support to ensure that every learner is given the best opportunity to succeed.
A proactive role is also expected in supporting the team to develop the courses and provision, ensuring that learners are at the heart of everything we do.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high standards of teaching and learning in a realistic working environment and support the Programme Leader to provide ongoing support, advice and guidance that promotes learner success. We would like to work with you to develop your professional skills in order to offer the best possible experience for learners and to help move the department forward.

- Teaching practical sessions to a high standard in order to create effective learning opportunities and to enable all learners to achieve to the best of their ability.
- Ensuring a professional and safe environment in the realistic working environment that reflects what is expected in an establishment.
- Maintaining high standards of the provision and the support given to learners.
- Ensuring that the Group’s policies and procedures are followed.
- Supporting learners to succeed in order to achieve or exceed their targets, by appropriately challenging and stretching learners.

Holiday Entitlement
There will be an entitlement to pro rata paid holiday in each academic year (1st September to 31st August), which includes pro-rata entitlement of 8 Bank and Public Holidays normally observed in Wales and a pro-rata entitlement of up to 5 efficiency days (please note this can change annually). Annual leave is derived from a pro rata full time equivalent entitlement of 28 days (rising to 32 days after 5 full holiday years’ continuous service) which is included in the hourly rate paid.
