Senior Audiologist
Closing date: 21 July 2026.
We are looking for an experienced Band 6 Senior Audiologist to play a key role in our modernised Audiology Department. The post is based at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital and involves working across acute hospital clinics, community services and outreach sites, providing leadership to colleagues and contributing to service development.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering complex diagnostics and rehabilitation for both adults and children.
- Providing full range of diagnostics, including speech audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, TEOAE, PTA, video otoscopy and hearing aid fittings with verification (REMS).
- Mentoring junior staff and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Driving service innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Managing complex cases and direct referral clinics while identifying red flags and making onward referrals.
Person Specification
Education
- BSc degree in Audiology from an accredited university or equivalent qualifications (BAAT Part 1 and 2 until 2006).
- Registered with AHCS or HCPC.
- Evidence of learning from relevant professional courses and seminars.
- Post‑qualifying clinical experience in audiology.
- Valid driving licence.
Knowledge
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Basic Grade Audiologist, with skills expected at a senior level.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Clinical governance knowledge.
- Experience performing a wide range of diagnostic tests, hearing aid fittings and prescribing hearing aids.
- Experience with Auditbase and Phonak hearing aids.
- Able to train and develop lower grades of staff.
- Previous NHS experience.
