Overview

Responsibilities

As a part‑time optometrist you will:– Conduct eye examinations, contact‑lens fittings, and extended service examinations.– Work closely with the Dispensing Optician Manager to provide training, coaching, and support for departmental standards.– Deliver a range of care under our NHS extended‑service contracts, including the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions.– Support clinical and service‑based queries from store, regional and home‑office teams, ensuring expert advice is always available.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
  • Registered performer with your NHS area team or health board.
  • MECs or WECs accredited, or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining (funded and supported by Asda).
  • On track to meet statutory CPD points requirement.
  • Willingness to participate in optional supervision of students for GOC‑registered professionals.

Compliance Requirements

Applicants must provide evidence of Right to Work in the UK, NHS performer list status for the intended nation, and two clinical references. Welsh applicants must also prove WECS accreditation and WGOS module completion.
